A phone system your office can manage.

Pay for the system, not every employee. Choose your own phone provider. Change your hours, add a person or decide what happens to a missed call yourself.

We’re letting testers in a few at a time. Once you’re approved, your phone system is free for 7 days, no card needed. Phone service and equipment are paid for separately. See the full bill below.

Why we built it

Most business phone systems were designed for telecom engineers. They ask you about “endpoints,” “ring strategies” and “inbound routes.” Or they charge a monthly fee for every person in the office, whether or not they use the phone.

What we do

  • Give you a phone system in plain language: People, Phone Numbers, Ring Rules, Greeting, Business Hours.
  • Run and maintain it for you: updates and nightly backups are on us. We check every 5 minutes that your system’s web app responds. We do not monitor your calls, your phones or your phone company.
  • Charge one flat price for each phone system.

What we don’t do

  • We don’t sell phone service. You keep your own account with a phone provider, so your numbers and your usage bill are yours.
  • We don’t charge per employee. Adding a person never changes your price.
  • We aren’t a call center or a do-everything platform. We keep it small on purpose.

How it works

A guided setup takes you from sign-up to your first call. See every setup screen.

1

Join the beta

Sign in with Google to get on the list. Once you’re approved, we build your own private phone system in about 10 minutes.

2

Connect your phone provider

Skyetel or Telnyx, with step-by-step setup for either. It’s the one part that needs an account of your own, and we’ll guide you through it.

3

Add your people and make a call

Add your team, set your greeting and hours, connect a supported phone, and place a test call.

What your full bill looks like

MeePBX, at $15 a month (Business) or $8 a month (Home) per phone system. Plus your own phone provider’s charges for numbers, minutes and 911 service. Plus any phones or adapters you buy. Hands-on installation help is not part of the subscription.

We will email you at least 30 days before any change to your price or these terms that affects you.

Capacity

A beta phone system is built for a small office. It can have up to 4 calls going out at the same time, and each phone can be on up to 2 calls at once. We have not yet measured how many calls a system can handle at the busiest moment, so we do not promise a number of people or calls. Tell us how many calls you expect at once before you join. Adding a person does not change your subscription.

Questions people ask

What do I need to get started?

A Google account, internet that works reliably, and an account with Skyetel or Telnyx. We walk you through each step. For the beta we support one phone adapter, the Grandstream HT801, which connects an ordinary phone. Other phones are not supported yet. A browser web phone is offered as a “try it” extra, not a promise.

Why do I need my own phone provider?

So your numbers and your calling bill stay yours, and you can switch providers without rebuilding your phone system. MeePBX supplies the system and hosting; the provider supplies the numbers and the calls.

What happens at the end of the trial?

Subscribe any time during the 7 days. If you don’t, your settings lock on day 8 (your phones keep ringing), we email you, and on day 10 the phone system, its voicemail and call history are deleted. If you subscribe and later cancel, you are not charged again and the system keeps working until the end of the period you paid for.

How does 911 work?

911 calls go out through your phone provider. During setup you register your address with them. 911 only works while your internet, your power, your phones and your phone provider are all working. Keep another way to call 911, and do not test by dialing 911. We do not promise that anyone in your office is alerted when 911 is dialed.

Who answers if something goes wrong?

MeePBX is run by one person, through Kuvop, LLC. Support is nominal: it is one person, not a team. Help is by email at support@meepbx.com. Support hours are weekdays 9 to 5 ET, and we aim to reply within one business day. Outside those hours a message waits until the next hours begin. We check every 5 minutes that your system’s web app responds. We do not monitor your calls, your phones or your phone provider, and we do not promise a recovery time. We do not offer 24/7 coverage or phone support.

Is it open source?

No. MeePBX is closed source. It is built on stock Asterisk 20, which is open source (GPLv2). MeePBX’s own web interface, phone setup and hosting code are closed and are only available as the hosted service.

Can I use it for a medical practice?

No. The beta is not for health care records or patient information.
